Rishi is a Sports Medicine Physician working as a first team doctor at Leeds United Football Club. Whilst working regularly with elite athletes, he is also passionate about diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems and injuries in recreational and non-sporting individuals. He has a particular interest in musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound guided interventions for osteoarthritis and tendon problems.

Rishi qualified from Newcastle University in 2013 and after Foundation training, he was appointed as a Surgical Teaching Fellow at Sunderland Hospital, working in General Surgery, as well as teaching and examining medical students.
He undertook his GP training in Yorkshire which included a rotation in Rheumatology where he covered a weekly injection clinic for patients with inflammatory arthritis. Alongside his GP training, Rishi completed a Diploma in Sports Medicine at the University of Bath, with Merit, and in 2021 became a Member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine. He has completed further ultrasound training qualifications in London, gaining a distinction, with further training in Leeds and London.

Rishi was appointed as 1st team doctor at Leeds United at the start of the 2019/20 season in which they were promoted to the Premier League after a 16-year absence and he subsequently moved to a full time role at the club towards the end of the promotion season. He has worked in various other sports including for Castleford Tigers RLFC, Yorkshire RFU and British Gymnastics- covering at World, European and British Championships. He has also covered at various multi sports events, including the School Games and was Chief Medical Officer for British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) between 2019 and 2022.

Rishi is passionate about teaching and has completed a PGCert in medical education and continues to teach medical students and junior doctors. He was recently appointed as an honorary lecturer at Leeds University.
