Dr. Rahul Lakhera

Sports Medicine Physician

Dr Lakhera is a musculoskeletal physician and sports medicine doctor who graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2007. He moved to West Yorkshire for his junior doctor years where rotations in rheumatology in Bradford and A&E in Halifax shaped his early interest in Musculoskeletal medicine. After completing his GP training in Wakefield in 2012 he developed his career combining General Practice with jobs in elite sport. In 2016, he completed a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine at The University of Bath.

His previous jobs in sport and musculoskeletal medicine include:

Club Doctor – Bradford Bulls RLFC, 2014-15

Academy and Assistant First Team Doctor – Leeds United FC, 2015-2019

GP with a Specialist Interest in Musculoskeletal Medicine with Connect Health for Wakefield NHS, 2017-
2018

Academy Doctor – Leeds United FC, 2020-2021

Academy Doctor – Hull City FC, 2021-2023

Since 2018 he has been working in NHS and private Musculoskeletal clinics where he has developed a particular interest in back pain. He is experienced in ultrasound guided interventions, he provides caudal epidurals and other ultrasound guided injections for multiple joint and soft tissue problems and injuries. He also continues his involvement in elite sport as a match day doctor for Leeds Rhinos RLFC.
