Symptoms are often categorised by inflammation of the nose, throat and sinuses causing malaise, nasal congestion, cough, sneezing, sore throat, runny nose and occasionally fever and headaches. The vast majority of UTRI cases are due to self-limiting respiratory viruses, but there are extensive pathogenic causes of both viral and bacterial pathogens.
